The Great American Picturebook, a folksy rock trio from Yonkers, NY, brings together many styles of American music in their performance of new songs and old classics. Stirring together guitarist Derek Smith’s psychedelic lead, drummer Andy Werner’s jazzy fills, and bassist Joe Peck’s bluesy foundation, the band serves a cocktail that pays respect to its homegrown lineage. Taking after the many jam bands before them, you can hear the hints of an alternative melodic styling to Johnny Cash, the Grateful Dead, and Willie Nelson. Ever-changing setlists, lively improvisation, and a catalogue of original songs bring a different experience to each show.
