The Music for People ensemble is a collective of improvisors who create immersive and participatory experiences. Join the Music for People ensemble for an improvised concert OR for a fun-filled mini-workshop in music improvisation! You can join us for one or both of the sessions. All are welcome!

When you come to a Music for People Ensemble performance, you will be treated to music that is created entirely in the moment, inspired by music of the world and blending styles from Bach to Boogie Woogie. The improvised concert will feature musicians trained in Music for People techniques that promote innovative expression and spontaneous composition through deep listening, mindfulness, and creativity.

Let your inner musician out to play at the mini-workshop in music improvisation. The Music for People-trained musicians will provide structures and lead games that help people connect with their authentic, inner music. One of the guiding principles is that there is no such thing as a wrong note! Prior experience in improvisation or music is not necessary. All that’s needed is a love of creativity and a desire to make music. (Some easy-to-play instruments will be available for participants to use at the mini-workshop, but you can also bring your own.)

If you are interested in learning more about music improvisation, the Music for People organization offers workshops in music improvisation and facilitation to help you:
– find your authentic music
– learn techniques in music improvisation
– explore mindfulness through music
– lead groups in music improvisation in your schools and communities.
Whatever your level of experience, whatever the instrument, our workshops offer a path into improvisation that you can take back into your school, your community or your own personal music making. Prior experience in improvisation is not necessary.
