Gentle harmonies infuse originals and covers from husband-and-husband duo Mark Davis and Jim Howe
Mark Davis, guitar; Jim Howe, cello
Old Dogs New Tricks is made up of husband-and-husband duo Mark Davis and Jim Howe. With Mark on acoustic guitar and Jim on cello, the two trade off lead and harmony vocals on originals and covers. They have worked with vocal and guitar coach Adam Hart of Riverrun and studied songwriting with the iconic Dar Williams. Their songs ask what it means to be human and how, in the words of the poet Mary Oliver, we can make the most of our “one wild and precious life.” Forming Old Dogs New Tricks is one answer they came up with for themselves.
Old Dogs New Tricks has performed locally at Common Ground and Purpl in Hastings, the Black Cat Café in Irvington, the Duplex in New York City, and the Green Growler in Croton-on-Hudson, among others. They are currently working on their first CD.
